The real race
November 22, 2012Dear Sir,The question was posited recently ‘is race now irrelevant in the coming election?’ The answer is yes, of course it is, this is about a race for who has the best plan for the future of all Bermudians. We are in a deep hole and continue to borrow money to buy new shovels to dig and stand strong for Bermudians, when what is needed is a race for ropes and ladders to climb out of the deepest levels of unemployment we have seen in decades. We are in a marathon to achieve a sense of togetherness where skin colour is not important but our desire to exploit our collective skills for solutions to the challenges at hand. A race with the same tenacity that some seem to have to keep us divided by racial concerns to win elections. The race that is paramount is 3,300 on a mad dash for employment, the inability to put food on the table and pay the rent/mortgage not about who doesn’t look like me as to skin hue. Jobless citizens are robbed of their dignity and self worth! Bermuda is not a hotbed of racial pugilists always looking for the counter punch. The real race to win is the Gold in the following: Crime, Jobs, Tourism, National Debt, Equitable Health care with fair pricing to especially our Seniors. Stand up family and vote OBA.WAYNE B SCOTT
