End the politics of race
December 6, 2012Dear Sir,Be careful what you wish for. Some years ago, the then-Premier pronounced in the House of Assembly that he wanted white people to feel uncomfortable in Bermuda. He succeeded, and the current Progressive Labour Party leadership is making sure that this state of affairs continues by again putting race on the front burner in the run-up to the election on December 17. Bermuda relies for its success in tourism and international business on markets which are predominantly white, so making whites feel uncomfortable in Bermuda is clearly a recipe for disaster. By putting race front and centre yet again, the PLP is trying to draw attention away from its mismanagement of Bermuda’s economy, and are asking Bermudians to vote for them, not based on merit, but based on the colour of their skin.If this is allowed to continue, the world will pass us by, and the vibrant economy, which was once one of the world’s most envied, will be a faint memory. One Bermuda Alliance is a party comprised of Bermudians, black, white and “other”, from diverse backgrounds, young and forward looking, working together for a better Bermuda. They represent the best chance we have to get Bermuda back on the right track. Vote for a better future on the 17th! Vote OBA! Vote for an end to the politics of race!CONCERNED FATHER AND GRANDFATHERDevonshire
