Leave the ego behind

Bermuda Industrial Union president Chris Furbert

December 20, 2012Dear SirMany, many congratulations to the One Bermuda Alliance. When I woke up the day after the election, I was relieved to know that my home; my family’s home; and my friends and relatives have a chance at a healthier Bermuda. Then on the news tonight, I was appalled at comments made by the Bermuda Industrial Union President. How ridiculous a statement is it when saying the OBA did not win the people’s vote, because many of the Progressive Labour Party supporters didn’t vote? If those people could not bring themselves to vote for another party, they certainly sent the message, and probably for the first time in their lives, that they could not support the PLP. That speaks volumes of their dissatisfaction toward a PLP rule. So I say, Mr Furbert, your people spoke, and spoke clearly; thus the reason we have an OBA victory. What may be even more appalling is the insinuation that if the OBA do in fact create 2,000 jobs, as they said they would, you will have us believe that the OBA may have been holding out. So, let me get this right. If the OBA are successful at eradication of crime, growing our economy, balancing the budget, being transparent and accountable, and so on; that all this is an indication that the OBA were holding out? For God’s sake Mr Furbert do this Island a favour, stop making excuses, concentrate on actually helping this Island get back it’s reputation and back on it’s feet, and leave your ego behind for a while.EDITHPaget
