February 28, 2013.Dear Sir,I read with great surprise the remarks by the former Premier, the Honorable Alex Scott, that the Pitt Commission would have not been appointed if it was not for the PLP.The Pitt Commission was formed by Sir Peter Ramsbotham the Governor at the time and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in February 1978. Sir Peter wanted a Royal Commission of Enquiry after consultation with both the Premier, the then David Gibbons and the leader of the Opposition, Lois Browne Evans. Lord Pitt of Hampstead was then selected as the Chairman of the Commission.LLPembroke
