June 6, 2013Dear Sir,Please allow me space to vent. Mothers, do you know the license number of the bike and rider that you have entrusted the care of your toddler? This afternoon driving west near Port Royal a young man wearing a blue and white striped T-shirt on a bike carrying a small child in front overtook myself and the line of traffic in front of me. He proceeded to overtake everything in front of him all the way as far as I could see to up to the crest of the hill at St James Church, at times riding with only one hand on the handlebars.What is he teaching this child? To be a future reckless rider. To the mothers of small children, are you aware of how recklessly your friend, boyfriend, husband or father of your child drives? If you choose to drive solo the way you did today, then at least, if you crash you will only end up injuring yourself and not a toddler to leave a mother grieving. What further amazes me are the number or children riding in front with no eye protection, the riders wear shades, why not the children?
