July 8, 2013Dear Sir,While riding on his scooter on July 4, my friend had difficulty negotiating the turnabout on South Road. I glanced through my rear view mirror only to see his scooter hit a curb. I ran back to him and found him bleeding profusely from his head. In the seconds it took me to get to him, there were already two or three Bermudians assisting him. One young gentleman in particular (I believe his name is Chris) stayed with us the whole time until rescue and police and fire arrived. My dear friend was unconscious and was going into shock. Chris stood over my friend to shield him from the sun until help arrived.He was taken to the emergency room where he received exemplary care from both Dr Angela Marini and all the nurses and caregivers. We are now back in the States where we live and my friend is recuperating well.I have visited the islands of Bermuda over 30 times ... what keeps bringing me back?I have always known Bermuda as a very special place, not only for its beauty but for its residents the most friendly, welcoming folks I've had the pleasure to know.To Chris, who aided us at the accident scene, I want to thank you so very much for your kindness.Patricia ProvenzanoBristol, Rhode Island, USA
