Hold you head up high Larry

December 17, 2013

Dear Sir,

I read the article by Gareth Finighan dated December 17th 2013, headed ‘Denunciations, insults, and promises of payback at City Hall’, with dismay. Never have I read such an insulting and contradictory publication.

In the first paragraph Mayor Graeme Outerbridge maintains that there is no split between members of his Team Hamilton group. After reading, there is much to contradict what the Mayor is trying to portray to us. There obviously is a split in the Corporation’s ranks.

Deputy Mayor Donal Smith refers to Councillor Larry Scott as ‘Reptilian’ and told him via e-mail that he had on good authority that ‘you may never rise to another court other than in the case of Legal Aid matters’. He goes on ‘It is clear that you are fighting for your survival and livelihood and that doing what stool pigeons do best, we the Council minus your kind at the table will in the end watch gladly as the six handles carry you to your eternal destiny- your grave’ ‘One last point for you’ ‘ What goes around comes back around’ but you would not know this as your conscious has hardened like the bottom of a Pigs Hoof.

I know lawyer Mr. Larry Scott and have always enjoyed his company. Having hired him in his capacity as a lawyer, I was more than pleased with his professionalism and attention to detail. To see him maligned in such a manner sickens me. He and his family members are held in high esteem, and have contributed greatly to Bermuda. This vicious attack by a sitting Deputy Mayor makes me wonder the direction in which Hamilton is headed. Who would be willing to invest in Hamilton realising that they would have to deal with some of the current COH elected officials?

To Larry my friend, hold your head high and continue to do what you think is right!

John ‘Bo’ Bromby.
