Dear Sir,

What the union needs to do in the future is have seven-day notices before they go on strike. Twenty-one days is too long to prepare as issues, have literally flared up within the last year leading up to now (this constant stupid talk about privatisation, mutualization/outsourcing is really causing people’s blood to boil!). I basically agree wildcat strikes are ridiculous but, government workers Island-wide should be allowed to stand up for their rights, however 21 days is too long to prepare. If tourists, seniors, parents/so on knew seven days in advance that a strike was to come, they’ll have time to prepare more/dilly-dally less. Each announcement, should be broadcast over the radio, in the newspaper/on television. Any individual who feels it is unnecessary to listen in for some odd reason, will continue to be left in the dark because of their own stupidity. Any “sudden” strikes without any notice will be subject to fines. The union should agree to this as well as the Government (seven days notice before any strike). Then Micheal Fahy can’t complain anymore about that action.
