Dear Sir,

So, the so-called “Black Surrogate” has completed the task and has been tossed to the curb like a piece of litter by persons whom I am certain he thought were as one with him

Mr Cannonier, I am sorry that you had to endure what most Bermudians saw coming based on the report that the BDA commissioned sometime back.

And it saddens me to hear how you were treated and what was alleged to have been said by persons in your party to you before your fateful resignation.

Despite any unsettledness or anger that you must feel at the lack of support by many in the OBA, surely, as you reflect on what has happened, you can now see that your term in office was but for a moment and by design.

However, although I am PLP all the way, I along with the rest of the country are disgusted and find it reprehensible that you were thrown under the bus by two of the very people who stood with you as you walked to that plane in the so called ‘Jetgate’ affair: Minister Pettingill and Minister Crockwell, you both ought to be ashamed of yourselves. How do you both sleep at night?

Mr Pettingill, you are the highest legal officer in this country and you had the wherewithal to advise the Premier reference the ‘Jetgate’ saga, and this country questions you now washing your hands of any association with this matter. That sir, is unconscionable to say the least. There are no words to describe what you and Mr Crockwell have done. We teach our children that one is guilty by association, and the mere fact that you had knowledge and were there is telling. Both of you need to turn in your keys and walk away!

Most Bermudians that I have spoken to no longer have any respect for anything that you two say or will do in the future. Both of you allowed the Premier to take the fall for this fiasco and for that you are cowards and need to resign immediately!

Secondly, please explain OBA, how is it that you and the rest of your Cabinet can have paid jobs outside of the political posts of responsibility?

So, let me get this right, you are getting paid for jobs outside of being OBA Ministers or Senators and you are receiving money from us the hard-working taxpayers as salary for your Ministerial positions? That is an outrage.

One thing that the former Premier Paula Cox did, she made sure that her Ministers were receiving monies only for the Ministerial positions that they held. Each of her Cabinet had to leave their initial jobs upon being appointed as a Minister of the Government. But not the OBA, you all continue to try to bamboozle the country with your ‘pretending to care about the people of this country”, you all work two jobs and get paid for both. You must take home between $200 — 400K a year. Absurdity.

There are people in this country who are struggling and you pride yourselves on receiving two paycheques.

And Mr Pettingill now announcing a big job with Clarien Bank. Sir, your job is AG of this country. How can you possibly juggle both and be the best that you can at the job that is funded by the taxpayers. Truly, we have had enough. The audacity of you people.

Mr Pettingill and Mr Crockwell, the country will not rest until you have both resigned your posts. And Mr (Premier) Dunkley, if you are so concerned with transparency and what is right you would not allow these two persons to continue in their posts. Get rid of them now. They must go. Enough already.
