Dragging his party into the mud
June 4, 2014
Dear Sir,
The Leader of the Progressive Labour Party, Marc Bean, is a loose cannon who lacks wisdom, discretion, cohesiveness and charisma. He condones prejudice towards gays as he has categorically said he would refuse to rent a dwelling to anyone that is Gay. According to the Bible, sex outside of marriage is a sin — so presumably he wouldn’t want to rent to a single person who has a partner, sin being equal that is. He has indicated that he does not have time for special interest groups — it’s a good thing he wasn’t leader when we were supporting the Anti-Apartheid Movement and the Anti-Death Penalty Group or the Berkeley PTA/Students who marched against the United Bermuda Party to stop them from turning it into a middle school.
When questioned in an interview with ZBM over the Nandi Davis affair with respect to his profanity and lecture to her regarding her personal life in a cell phone message, his response to Gary Moreno was that one has to speak harshly to black women at their level in order to get their attention.
Finally, his recent statement in the House of Assembly that he gave his then two to three-year-old “ganja tea” in order to cure her asthma has not only sabotaged the cannabis reform movement, but is an admittance of criminal behaviour. I have done extensive research on the topic and never found a reputable research study to validate such a claim, it’s purely rubbish he has espoused! He has dragged the PLP into the mud. In October this year the PLP will be holding its Annual Delegates Conference. Every two years the Leader of the PLP can be challenged and 2014 is thankfully the year that a new leader can be chosen. Let’s hope that Member of Parliament Kim Wilson is chosen as the new PLP leader in October and that the very green Lawrence Scott is chosen as the Deputy Leader.
