No shared sacrifice?

Dear Sir,

I have heard comments that there needs to be shared sacrifice in the private sector in these punishing economic times.

Over the past two years my pay packet has been ravaged by more than 35 per cent, never mind the notion of a pay increase.

Please understand, I am not at war with my employer, who demonstrates to my satisfaction the enormous challenges of the market.

The multitude of people searching for jobs is no secret, how then could anyone suggest that the private sector is unscathed?

It is upsetting to hear those who have had no interruption in their incomes and benefits declare that those who work in the private sector have no empathy for Government workers. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Our country is running unsustainable deficits in the hundreds of millions year over year. Doomsday is looming, if not already here, to curse it is to declare war on reality.
