Dear Sir,

As an old-timer, I simply cannot let the demise of the DeFontes Broadcasting Company/VSB take place without a huge thank you to them for the many years of much appreciated entertainment in many forms.

It will be a sad day in Bermuda when they close their doors for good, something I wish another individual, or individuals, could step in and avoid happening.

I have been a regular listener to 1450 Gold for as long as it has been in existence, through several on-air personalities and its quality talk show, and have no doubt that a serious void will take place once it is no longer available.

To my knowledge, there is no comparable local radio station which offers easy-listening oldie goldies and regular, much needed exposure to our local entertainers, both past and present. To me, in this day and age, that’s a downright shame.

I have also tuned in to Mix 106 regularly and long ago concluded how fair they are in their choice of music, selections which catered to everyone rather than a certain segment.

Also, their newscasts have always been fairly and professionally presented, and offered an alternative to other media. That, too, will be sadly missed.

So VSB, from an appreciative listener, thank you again and God speed to you all.
