Grass and weeds keep on growing

Neglected and overgrown: a reader says the Railway Trail in Warwick and some roadsides are in need of attention (File photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Dear Sir,

The article quoting Quinton Edness in today’s newspaper (RG, October 20, 2015) should have been on the front page and requires more than the standard answer given by the Ministry of Public Works whenever anyone makes a complaint.

The minister himself has yet to respond to e-mails from me sent twice this year.

I have sent e-mails, made phone calls, written to this newspaper and had Simon Jones do an article, complete with photographs — all on the subject of the disgraceful state of roadsides and the Railway Trail. Nothing gets done and the grass and the weeds just keep on growing.

Close to my home in Warwick, we are still looking at damage from last year’s hurricanes and the latest added to the mess.

I am a huge supporter of the America’s Cup but, as one gentleman said to me as I walked the trail on North Shore, “how can we put millions into America’s Cup but we can’t afford to cut the grass?”

Regards, SUE GARLAND
