Rainbow Alliance’s conduct displays a distinct lack of love

Dear Sir,

I am very concerned for Bermudians over the attitude, dishonesty and lack of love being shown by the Rainbow Alliance of Bermuda.

Lisa Simpson of The Royal Gazette reported on March 14 condemning statements from the Rainbow Alliance of Bermuda over my recent series “Cultures Under Conflict” at the West End Church of Christ. My concern stems from three areas:

1, The Rainbow Alliance maintained “many of the claims made previously by Brad Harrub are not supported by substantive science, such as his assertions that ‘homosexuality can reduce a person’s lifespan by up to 24 years’.” At the beginning of my seminar, I presented six scientific studies from 1997 to 2015, and gave full references, that document that homosexuality does indeed reduce lifespans and leads to domestic abuse. I have a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology, so I am very familiar with the current research. One might ask, if the Rainbow Alliance felt my data was in error, why they did not point this out Saturday night and give supporting studies for their position?

2, I was characterised as “dehumanising individuals” and yet the first words out of my mouth Saturday night expressed love and concern for the souls of individuals of Bermuda. All throughout my lesson, I pointed out that humans have souls, so for the Rainbow Alliance to claim I was dehumanising individuals makes me question if they were even in attendance. I suspect they were not present, which begs me to question why were they condemning me if they had not taken the time to listen?

3, I would question the Rainbow Alliance’s love for the citizens of Bermuda. The material I presented was backed up both in science and Scripture, out of genuine concern for the souls of Bermudians. Yet, this group has tried to paint me as one “propagating myths”. However, the fact remains that on Saturday night, I opened the floor for questions and comments at the end of my seminar. I was prepared to stay for as long as needed to address any questions or concerns, and yet their group never presented a single question. Again, one wonders if they were present at the seminar, or simply spoke their comments to The Royal Gazette out of vitriol and hate.

There are consequences for legalising same-sex marriages — both physical and spiritual. We are aping those in the United States.

I challenge the citizens of Bermuda to brush up on the facts of what changes will occur once the door has been opened. Lastly, if the Rainbow Alliance really feels I was “dehumanising individuals” and that my work is “not supported by substantive science”, then I challenge you to a public debate to allow the citizens of Bermuda to examine the evidence and make an informed decision.
