July 3 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Rebecca Middleton, a Canadian teenager, who while on vacation here, was raped and killed. Two people, one Bermudian and one Jamaican, were charged with the killing, but at the trial the judge opined that “there is no case to answer”. One did plead guilty and was sentenced to five years in jail. Pause and give a thought and a prayer to this poor girl and to her family, who are still grieving her loss.
