Warm feeling from successful Pride parade persists

Pride success: thousands take to the street for the 2019 Pride Parade (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Dear Sir,

I writing your column once again, to give my wholehearted support to the organisers of the most recent LGBTQ Pride Parade. Truly the message was given to those who oppose this issue, around the world, especially here in Bermuda.

What a sight. People of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds participated in the Pride parade. Starting point Victoria Park — without any trouble. All were well behaved along the route. Back to Victoria Park — inside the park after. All participants were enjoying each other’s company, giving each other praises, and hugs on the most successful parade.

In the park — there were many different stands, some selling food. Also, other interesting goodies, and related material celebrating the event. Each person had good things to say to what had just been accomplished. One could see it in their faces, expressed by their smiles and laughter also.

Many were talking about what had just happened for the first time in Bermuda’s history. Each was looking for an even bigger turnout for the next parade in 2020.

The other beautiful part of this parade was in fact no litter to be found along the total distance of the route. Also, in the park, all was left in immaculate condition.

Big praises must be given to all the organisers, such as Tony Brannon, who himself, gave so many long hours of his time, making the parade a real success.

Along with the many other individuals who were involved; too many to be mentioned. A special thank-you must be given to them as well.

A job well done!
