Sorting out status here can take a long time

Town hall meeting: Colin Anderson, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of National Security, told an audience of about 30 people earlier this month that the immigration bill was focused on mixed-status families and the repatriation of Bermudians (File photograph)

Dear Sir,

This may be of some comfort to all young Bermudians who want to obtain their status.

My triplet grandsons were Bermudian until their 22nd birthday. They could not be born here, as they were high-risk. They weighed between 1.5lb and 2.5lb at birth.

Their mother was born here, attended Warwick Academy and trained as a physiotherapist in the UK and worked at Friendship Vale School.

Their grandfather was the archdeacon of St Mary’s Church in Warwick for 38 years and was appointed an OBE.

My local MP has been extremely helpful, but their status is still pending.
