Eve’s Pond: a national treasure restored
Dear Sir,
After ten weeks of not seeing Bermuda beyond my own yard, it was indeed a pleasure two weeks ago to travel along North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish and see the restoration of Eve’s Pond.
Between travel, quarantine and shelter-in-place, I was unaware that work had started on this project. As I have passed several times over the past two weeks, I have been able to observe the progress on the rehabilitation of the area. It gets more beautiful and appealing every time.
Today, the North Shore frontage was cleared and anyone passing had a clear view of the transformation.
I commend the Buy Back Bermuda Campaign, the Bermuda Audubon Society and the Bermuda National Trust for their vision. I look forward to taking a leisurely nature walk around the pond and sitting off to enjoy the promised endemic scenery.
This new space in Hamilton Parish will be an inviting community space for all. If one has not yet driven that way, I invite you to do so and observe what awaits.
Despite the woes of 2020, for us in Bermuda, Eve’s Pond is emerging as what we need right now: an alluring accomplishment and a timely inspiration for our community — physically, socially and emotionally.
Once again, thank you to those responsible and to the personnel who have delivered.
