A wasted opportunity
Dear Sir,
Recently I was advised to have an MRI; however, as I am claustrophobic I could not consider the normal MRI. A friend advised me to contact the new clinic of Dr. Soares, viz: The Hamilton Medical Centre, which had an open MRI. I duly visited this clinic on Burnaby Street and was absolutely amazed at the state of the art clinic here in Bermuda, with the most amazing equipment I have ever seen in any hospital. Indeed he had an open MRI, as well as other medical equipment.
I was stunned to learn that he is unable to open this wonderful facility, due to some sort of unexplained Government or Health Council requirements. Furthermore, even if he gets the green light to open up, patients with Future Care cover will not be able to make use of this state of the art Medical Centre. What a shame this is, particularly for people who suffer from claustrophobia or people who are overweight.
Bermuda should be proud of having such a facility at our disposal and I wish the powers on this Island would recognise the benefits in allowing Dr. Soares to open his Medical Centre without any more delays.
