Thanks for the Flora celebrations
Dear Sir,
I would like to thank you and your staff for the excellent coverage given to our first Olympic gold medal-winner, Flora Duffy. I saluted her accomplishment from Day 1 and I would like to once again congratulate her for once again putting Bermuda on the map. Her victories should inspire us all.
I commend the Bermuda Government for its leadership in recognising this first. I thank sports minister Ernest Peets for asking me to participate. I thank my friends who over the years have guided me and assisted me in more ways than one.
Over the years my family and church have stood with me and guided me. Thank you. You have been the wind beneath my wings.
Thank you Hott 107.5, Bernews, TNN, Miss Thang, Eron Hill and many, many others too numerous to name for your encouragement and support over the years. Last but not least, I would like to thank the people of Bermuda for their kind remarks over the years and recently.
American poet Langston Hughes, who visited Bermuda, stated: “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” I can identify with that and also with Proverbs 24:16: “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
I will continue to do my best, Bermuda, as we try and progress together. Thank you.
