Even PLP MPs think testing system needs to be scrapped

Testing times: Covid-19 testing at Bulls Head (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dear Sir,

David Tavares’ letter in today’s Royal Gazette is right on the money.

If more people ask the same questions, might we be more likely to get answers? If voters start asking their MPs these questions, will we get answers? I wrote to my MP after the January airport and testing shambles and reiterated the oft-repeated concern that the Travel Authorisation expense and hassle is putting visitors off visiting our shores. He, rather surprisingly, wrote back to me to say he agreed entirely. So, if even members of the Government agree that the current system needs to be eradicated, why are those in charge not listening?

Getting tourists back to our island is the quickest way to kick-start our economy and start easing the pain for our hotels and restaurants. Oh, but where would the Government find another stealth tax to replace it?
