Grateful to be learning something every day

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the fascinating information included in February’s Black History Month coverage in The Royal Gazette. I knew nothing about Eddie “The Sheikh” Gardner, for instance. What a great man! What an inspiring story!

Glenn Fubler told me more about Sidney Poitier’s early life than had been written before in Poitier’s hard-won glory days.

Cecille Snaith-Simmons always lifts my day with stories of Bermuda’s residents of the past or traditions and how they arose.

And a big “Well said!” to Chelsea Hill, your intern, who shows great promise and writes coherently about the wait for the Privy Council’s decision on Bermuda’s same-sex marriage case.

Particular thanks, also, to Beverly Connell, whose letters are always thought-provoking and well worth the read.

For these and many other articles, especially on Black History, my sincere thanks. I am enriched by learning something each passing day.
