Wishing for a return to peace in the parks

Dear Sir,

I wholeheartedly agree with David Wingate’s comments in the newspaper (February 14, 2022), about cyclists using the public parks for their recreational sport.

Admiralty House Park, which was once closed to all vehicles, gets torn up and they even create more pathways — creating a muddy mess. The cyclists are even riding down the steps!

There’s nothing like having a leisurely walk with the dog, only to encounter cyclists jamming their way past you. When they hold an event, they close off the park entirely.

Come on now, you close off Front Street, the main vein of the island, often enough. It is time to find a venue suitable for your sport and please leave the public parks to be unscarred by your muddy trails. Let us continue to be a peaceful place for people to enjoy nature.

Thank you. At peace in the park.
