Concrete jungle in Dockyard

Dear Sir,

I see that West End Development Corporation has made some new round concrete seating in Dockyard where the ferries come in, but whoever was responsible for doing so did not think of putting a hole in the centre of the slabs when they were being poured so they could put some umbrellas in them to provide some shade.

Concrete seating in Dockyard but with nothing to protect from the heat

You can’t make this stuff up!

The person for responsible for this needs to go and sit down on one of these concrete slabs in the middle of the day when the sun is out and see how long they are able to sit there.

You have thousands of cruise ship passengers in Dockyard every week now and there are only two benches that are in the shade! It’s just not acceptable. I am in Dockyard five days a week, so I meet a lot of tourists and some of them have complained that there is not enough seating that is located in the shade where the ferries come in.

Wedco needs to cut some holes in the middle of these concrete slabs, which thankfully still can be done. The Government needs to take some of the $22 million that it is getting from mostly cruise ship passengers, purchase three umbrellas and put them over the existing concrete seating so there will be at least a little more shaded seating in that area.

Although still not enough.
