Frustrated by lack of service
Dear Sir,
I am writing this to you because I cannot get a hold of anyone in Bermuda to deal with my issues. I have a package with Digicel that includes wi-fi, TV and phone service. Well, the wi-fi went out this weekend — on Friday, July 22, 2022 — to be exact and I have not been able to get anyone who can give me any kind of service. I pay all this money for service and cannot get it.
I drive around the various neighbourhoods and I see Digicel trucks servicing other people this weekend, but I cannot get any service. I have an 83-year-old mother who absolutely depends on having her internet connection to conduct her affairs and she is crippled this weekend because we have no Bermudians giving Bermudian service. All I can get on the phone is a bunch of foreigners who just keep apologising for me having no service. I pay all this money and can't get service, just an apology.
I had issues with their service earlier this year and I was forced to go into their Cedar Avenue/Burnaby Street office. There I spoke to someone who promised me a rebate for the loss of service at the time. I never received the rebate. I think it is sad that we are held hostage by these companies who refuse to give us a Bermuda connection unless we go through great inconvenience to get it. Other companies are much the same. I can’t get a Bermudian at One, either. I think it is a travesty that we are held hostage by these exorbitant fees and can't get a hold of anyone who is going to make a difference.
What do we have to do to get Bermudian service? I have never been so frustrated in all my life; and if it was easy to change to another server and get some decent service, I would. What has happened to my country?
The banks, internet providers are all relying on foreigners to carry out their business. We are losing our heritage and traditions to a bunch of foreigners. I don't know what the solution is but, I am deeply saddened that it would seem Bermuda has lost its soul. I guess I will have to hope and pray, and then maybe I will get some service at some point in the future.
