Dear Sir,

There is not much that is “fair” about Fairmont Southampton these days. When I am on the golf course at Turtle Hill, I look up at the hotel and remember the wonderful restaurants and dining experiences, the great concerts, shows and entertainment, and the smiling, happy visitors who came to enjoy our island and such a beautiful hotel.

These days, we might liken the hotel to television game shows of old.

Truth or Consequences, Name That Opening Date. Or, the answer to the question “What's really happening with Fairmont Southampton?” is as follows:

Door No 1: We know when work will start but can’t tell the public yet.

Door No 2: We’re leaving it as a surprise for you.

Door No 3: We have absolutely no idea!

Your guess as to which door is as good as mine.

Will the person who knows the truth please stand up.
