Vehemently against raising retirement age to 67
Dear Sir,
I must write another letter to you concerning the government pension fund. Last time I heard, there was $116 billion in the fund, with approximately 13,000 seniors collecting off the fund but not all receiving the maximum amount.
If the investment manager at the Pension Commission was investing in Apple, Amazon and Microsoft, the fund would have no problem. Each one of these companies has $50 billion in cash.
Do you realise also how many Bermudians die before 65 and receive nothing?
To even consider raising the pension age to 67 is ridiculous. Invest the money efficiently and you would have no problem.
Another stock, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is up 66 per cent this year. Pension fund managers, get your acts together!
