Please let chickens cross the road

Dear Sir,

I was driving two cars behind a slow coach along Harbour Road yesterday (July 8, 2024). At the first opportunity, the car in front of me overtook the slow coach at speed. A bit farther along, there was something on the road.

It was only a hen. As I passed I heard the “cheep, cheep” of a little baby at the side of the road.

“Mummy’s been run over. You’re on your own.”

Why can’t people slow down when they see something on the road. And hoot their horn. I certainly do!

We are all God’s creatures. You didn’t die and leave behind a little orphan in vain, little hen. Cos I’m writing to the paper about it.
