Mid-Atlantic cable hub a dream come true
Dear Sir,
I must recognise outstanding work. Thanks and congratulations to the Premier, David Burt, public works minister Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, Fiona Beck, Andrew Dias and everyone else involved.
This has been my dream for a very long time. I’ve worked on three of the largest cable systems as a commissioning engineer for WorldCom — Gemini, Southern Cross and Japan/US — but this was my dream.
You have managed to succeed in realising something that I’ve spent many years advocating for and carrying out desk studies on new landing-cable protection corridors.
Please close Devonshire Bay to new cables, unless one of the three cables there is retired first.
Very well done. This shows a confidence in the Bermuda Government.
Now I propose that the Dockyard and Marginal wharves become free ports and catalysts for inward foreign investment.
This could be the start of something big.
