Dear Sir,

It’s time “we the people” in Bermuda had a say/vote on major issues, don’t you think?

I implore all Bermudians and residents to go online and look up “Direct Democracy”. This is the system the Swiss have used successfully for many years.

We are facing some difficult times ahead and it is time that the Government held a referendum once a year on the concerns and issues that affect our future and our children’s future.

Each issue needs to reveal its pros and cons before a referendum is held.

A new system is needed to provide we the people with the right to have a petition — called an initiative by the people — on any issue, provided there are enough voters who are willing to sign.

For example, should we join Caricom? Really? What are the cons?

Should we go independent? Really? What are the cons?

Any comments, anyone?
