Rosewood declines to comment on Young’s departure

Departed: Brian Young, managing director of Tucker's Point, has left the resort

In a move to reassure members, management at Rosewood Tucker’s Point sent a letter officially announcing the departure of general manager Brian Young, stating that it would be business as usual while they search for his replacement.Rosewood would not comment yesterday on why Mr Young left his post saying it would not release any further details “in order to protect the privacy of its employees”.“Please be assured that his departure will in no way impact your membership in Tucker’s Point Club or our operations at Rosewood Tucker’s Point,” said Erich Steinbock, regional vice president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in a letter that went to members last week.According to Mr Steinbock’s letter, Paul Telford, the resort’s current director of rooms will take over Mr Young’s position until the vacancy is filled. No reason was given for Mr Young’s sudden departure.Mr Young was appointed to the position in December 2009, prior to Rosewood Hotels taking over management in late 2010.“As we transition to a new managing director, we will stay focused on enhancing our benefits and services for you and providing the best possible guest experience at the hotel and club,” added Mr Steinbock. “Paul is an experienced part of the Rosewood Tucker's Point management team and will have the assistance of seasoned Rosewood leaders who will visit the resort in the coming days to offer support as business demands require.”The resort has been hit with other issues with staffing. In July 2010, two managers resigned and a former guest service manager alleged a wrongful dismissal case, however, the Department of Labour determined that Tucker’s Point had not violated the provisions of the Employment Act 2000.
