Trott & Duncan names McKervey a director

Law firm Trott & Duncan Barristers & Attorneys has named a new director.The board of directors of Trott & Duncan said that Declan McKervey, who was most recently their senior property attorney, has been appointed to the post of director, with effect February 16.Mr McKervey has practised property law for more than ten years in Bermuda having previously worked at the firms of Smith & Co., Appleby and Marshall Diel & Myers’ property department.He was educated in Northern Ireland and England and graduated from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland with a degree in Law. He completed the Legal Practice Course at Chester College of Law in England. Mr McKervey was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2000 and is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association.Since he started with Trott & Duncan in June 2010, Mr McKervey has consulted in the company’s property practice, spending some of his time working in the UK.Trott & Duncan said Mr McKervey returned to Bermuda in June 2011 to become a permanent member of their property team.“In his new role as director, Mr McKervey will be a strategic partner on the Board, and lead Trott & Duncan with respect to its residential and commercial property matters,” the firm said. “Mr McKervey will also advise both local and non-Bermudian clients on all property related matters.”Delroy Duncan, managing director said, “Trott & Duncan is fortunate to have a strengthened commitment from a senior lawyer, who so solidly understands Bermuda’s real property landscape.“We work for a wide range of high profile corporate and individual clients and have significantly expanded, based on a strong reputation, a well-established client base and because of our lawyers, who are leading practitioners in their fields.
