Triton Tattoo has opened its doors in St George’s and has been doing a brisk business with residents and visitors stopping in for some ink.The studio is located within the Endemic Arts Collective gallery, which sells unique local artwork. Both are owned by St Georgian Gary Macpherson.Mr Macpherson opened the gallery in November. And following the securing of all approvals, the tattoo studio officially opened on the weekend. Some of the first customers came off ships tied up in St George’s.Among them was one of the crew of a Swedish sail training vessel and a sailor from a scientific research boat, who left with a tattoo of a whale by the studio’s talented full-time artist, Vinicius Caldas. The whale was from a picture in the gallery by pen and ink artist Charles Gardener.Located on Water Street, near Boyle’s, on St George’s Harbour, the studio’s nautical theme is in keeping with tattooing’s roots. The studio takes both appointments and walk-ins and has complied with all Government health requirements. It is also bilingual, as Mr Caldas, a Brazilian married to a Bermudian, speaks Portuguese.Among the artists featured at the gallery are Michael Cacy, Charles Gardener, Jonathan Northcott, Anne Kermode and photographer Chris Burville. Mr Macpherson also displays his art and wood carvings. The studio can be found on Facebook/Endemic Arts Collective.
