CellOne helps to open new second-hand shop
CellOne is helping the less fortunate get a leg up in the business world through their sponsorship of a new boutique thrift store specialising in professional attire. In partnership with the Centre Against Abuse, the store, named Dress for Success in St George’s, aims to assist men and women with obtaining affordable professional business attire in order to help gain entry into the work force or to update existing wardrobes. The boutique is an extension of the existing programmes through the Centre Against Abuse. The charity has been providing support for victims of domestic abuse through counselling, 24-hour hotline and safe accommodation to both men and women since 1979.“We are excited to be partnering with the Centre Against Abuse to get such a worthwhile project off the ground,” said Frank Amaral, COO of CellOne. “All of our employees are taking part in this project whether it’s renovating the store, gathering the clothes that will be sold, or organising the opening. CellOne supports numerous charities and events throughout Bermuda, however one aspect that makes this particular project a lot of fun is that we’ve all had a chance to get out of the office, get our hands dirty and do something worthwhile for the community.”Dress for Success aims to help those who might be starting a first job, revamping a work wardrobe or looking to stretch their dollar.“The Centre Against Abuse thanks CellOne for the opportunity that we have in partnering with them on opening our second-hand boutique. This second-hand store will allow individuals to ‘Dress for Success’ no matter their financial status,” said Laurie Shiell of the Centre Against Abuse. “CellOne has allowed us to realise a dream that we have had for a number of years.”AS Coopers, Gibbons Company, BR & CT Trucking, Lindo’s Group of Companies, Mambo, Sousa’s Carpeting, The English Sports Shop, Signworx, Baptiste, Standard Hardware and Pembroke Paint also helped in the opening of the boutique.CellOne will be hosting the grand opening for Dress For Success on Saturday, June 23 at 12pm at the store location — Unit 35, Old Military Road, St. George’s.If you are interested in donating new or gently used business attire to Dress for Success, please contact the Centre Against Abuse by e-mail info@centreagainstabuse.bm or dial 292-4366.
