Banks plan to take some ATMs out of service
Banks are planning to take a number of their ATMs out of service this weekend due to the potential impact of Hurricane Leslie.Butterfield Bank said as of today five of its ATMs will not be in service.In addition, Butterfield said in-branch banking and drive-thru banking services will not be available tomorrow.But Butterfield said its internet and telephone banking services will be working as usual, and most of its Island-wide ATM network will also be available.“However, customers are advised that, to prevent damage, certain ATMs that are exposed to the elements will be taken out of service intentionally beginning (today) on Friday, 7 September 2012,” Butterfield said. “The Bank regrets any inconvenience these measures may cause.”The Butterfield ATMs that will be taken out of service from today include the St George’s Banking Centre, Airport, Front Street, Somerset Banking Centre and Dockyard.Meanwhile, an HSBC Bermuda spokesperson stated: “To protect the safety of our customers and the public we will close access to certain ATM locations when weather conditions worsen. Location closures include: Front Street at Harbourview, Compass Point and the Kiosk at Church Street.“We anticipate all remaining HSBC ATMs will be fully operational should conditions allow. However, we encourage customers to have cash on hand before conditions worsen.”
