Expanding BAS group launches HVAC start-up, Mitsubishi training centre
Fast-growing facilities management group, Bermuda Aviation Services (BAS), has added another company to its fold.BAS yesterday launched its latest subsidiary, Efficient Technologies Bermuda Ltd, trading as Eff-Tech, and employing at least six staff at its Smith’s warehouse, a number which it expects will soon grow to the mid-teens.Eff-Tech is a BAS start-up rather than acquisition and expands BAS’s service capability into the HVAC field.In addition, Eff-Tech was appointed as a distributor for Mitsubishi Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) products in Bermuda. Eff-tech and GSC are the two dealers for Mitsubishi HVAC in Bermuda.BAS president and CEO Kenneth Joaquin said the company was going a step farther by setting up an on-site training programme at its new Lolly’s Well Road leased warehouse.Mr Joaquin said the start-up was part of BAS’s aim to be Bermuda’s premier one-stop shop service company, “servicing any company from the ground to the ceiling”.“We could not have asked for a better partner than Mitsubishi as we expand BAS’s service capability into HVAC,” Mr Joaquin said. “Mitsubishi produces superlative products backed by a support network that is second to none.”He noted Mitsubishi has been the premier supplier of cooling and heat pump air conditioning systems in Bermuda.“Mitsubishi has been the premier supplier of cooling and heat pump air conditioning systems in Bermuda,” he said. “Mitsubishi’s systems are the most energy efficient and quietest heating and cooling systems available. The centre will also run a full apprenticeship programme aimed at bringing in younger people interested in technical work to training in HVAC.The BAS group now includes Aircraft Services Bermuda Ltd (ASB), BAS-Serco Ltd, International Bonded Couriers Ltd (IBC), Weir Enterprises Ltd, Otis Bermuda Ltd, CCS Group Ltd, Integrated Technology Solutions Ltd, Bermuda Energy Service Company (BESCO), which it acquired just last month, and now Efficient Technologies Bermuda Ltd. (Eff-Tech).
