New team takes charge at The Property Group
New faces are taking charge at longtime local real estate agency, The Property Group Ltd, after the retirement of Cris Valdes-Dapena and Barbara Trimingham-Sleeter as managing directors of the company.The new directors, realtors Sallyann Smith and Brittany Archer, continue to work alongside fellow sales agents, Gill Butterfield, Vicky Hamshere, Margot Cooper, Cheryl Ford, and Barbara Trimingham-Sleeter.And, three new realtors have joined them; They include Lisa Fraser-Smith, Dornette Webb and William Kempe.Mr Kempe achieved success as an actor in the US, starring in the film ‘Metropolitan’ and appearing in many TV shows including ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘Law and Order’.Ms Fraser-Smith has worked for the past 20 years at BIOS and then in the dental field, while Ms Webbe has done extensive volunteer work and is known for her singing.“Their backgrounds have lent themselves well to the fast pace of the rental market and all three are devoted to helping newcomers to the Island and residents alike, find a home,” Ms Smith said.Ms Smith and Mrs Archer said The Property Group will continue to focus on every category of property in the residential market — and they have also branched out into new areas such as vacation rentals. And soon,The Property Group Ltd. will be taking on property management for absent homeowners who travel and live in multiple countries.Since 1996, Ms Smith said The Property Group has been involved in the majority of residential property sales to overseas buyers and a large percentage of those sales were in Tucker’s Town.However, Ms. Smith said recent sales had been in all markets, from entry-level to high-end, involving both Bermudian and overseas buyers.They have especially seen a demand for three-bedroom family homes with pools and water views.The Property Group continues to pride itself on giving excellent service, prompt response times and in-depth market research, they said.“We consider ourselves a small boutique agency offering a very personalised service,” Mrs. Archer said.Ms Smith added: “Since the transition, we have been especially busy. The first six months have seen numerous sales and rentals, even in a depressed market.“We are pleased and feel if we can do well in a downturn we can only do better as the economy improves.”Mrs Archer added: “We are delighted that Government is lowering the licensing fees for overseas purchasers and PRC holders.“We feel this will greatly encourage more sales in the immediate future which is bound to boost the real estate market and, in turn, the economy.”
