Limestone Law fills a niche in the East End
A law firm has opened its doors in St George’s, hoping to fill a niche for legal services in the Old Town.Barrister and attorney Simon Payne has relocated Limestone Law from Hamilton to Hunter House on Penno’s Wharf.“St George’s doesn’t have a law firm,” Mr Payne noted, ”Quite a few companies — exempted and local — in St George’s have already paid us a visit for corporate and commercial services. We are very happy with the move so far.”Limestone Law moved this month into what was retail space on the lower floor of Hunter House. He and his family live in St George’s.Mr Payne formed the firm back in 2009 on Church Street in Hamilton, adding: “But we have been trying since incorporation to relocate to St George’s.“Our focus is primarily on corporate and commercial law (funds and insurance), incorporations, liquidations, continuations, amalgamations and restructurings with a strong focus also on compliance.“We are also supported by our affiliated corporate administration company, Bermuda Corporate Services Ltd.”The company’s website says Limestone Law offers “a legal experience that is both quick and financially palatable” and is “willing and able to take instructions involving complex matters from leading corporations, financial institutions and governments”.As the Island's first Winter Olympian, Mr Payne competed in the luge at the Albertville Games in 1992 and in Lillehammer in 1994.He left international law firm Appleby to set up Limestone Law.Limestone Law’s website is www.limestonelaw.bm.
