HSBC launches legal action against Vigilante

Facing legal action: Former Fresco's group director Claudio Vigilante.

HSBC Bermuda has taken legal action against former Fresco’s group of restaurants director Claudio Vigilante.It’s the latest in a series of legal filings over the troubles of the former Fresco’s group, which has been the subject of a number of separate legal cases involving various shareholders and parties.The writs filed by HSBC Bermuda in the last two weeks include: HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd vs Bristol Cellar Ltd; HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd vs Gianni Claudio Vigilante; HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd vs (1) Gianni Claudio Vigilante 2) Rosemarie Madeiros 3) Christopher Trott.Mr Trott is a former business partner of Mr Vigilante’sThe Fresco’s group once consisted of Fresco’s, Silk Thai Cuisine, 64 Bar and Grill at Port Royal Golf Course, and the Opus Café and Grill.Last October a petition to wind up Claudio Vigilante’s Associated Cuisine restaurant group was filed in Supreme Court.“It is the company itself which is applying to be wound-up,” a spokesman for the company said. “The restaurants simply cannot continue in the current economic climate. No creditor has made any application to wind up Associated Cuisine Limited.”Mr Vigilante did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
