Pirate-themed bar is a new treasure in Dockyard
A repurposed ferry, some pirate paraphernalia, locally crafted woodwork, cheap drinks and just a touch of kitsch — Calico Jack’s floating bar might be just what the Dockyard ordered.
Following a soft launch last Saturday, the pirate-themed bar located at Heritage Wharf in Dockyard is aiming to bring together residents and tourists with “75 feet of pure pirate glory”.
Announcing itself as “Bermuda’s exclusive party headquarters on the water”, Calico Jack’s manager Nicole Lindo said feedback so far has been “great”.
“It’s something new,” said Mrs Lindo. “[The kind of thing] Bermuda hasn’t seen in a long time. It’s great for the tourists to come and interact with locals and just sit back and relax and enjoy an island-themed bar.”
Decked out with TVs, room for a DJ, two bars and “an unlimited supply of rum”, Mrs Lindo said alongside the pirate theme, the bar’s signature drink — dubbed ‘Grog’ — as well as its prices, are what will give the new bar a leg up on the competition.
“Our drink prices are very low. We wanted to come in competitive enough and stand apart from everyone else.”
Calico Jack’s is open seven days a week from 11am to 1am.
