Young Bermudians shine at lighting firm
Five young Bermudians are proving to be shining examples of good work ethic and commitment at Pembroke-based lighting specialist company ESC Limited.
In the past six months the firm has hired three new employees, bringing its total number of young Bermudian hires to five since 2013.
All of them are under the age of 27, and they have added a fresh outlook and “fun dynamic” to the company, according to general manager Lindsay Davis.
“Each one of them, and our veteran staff too, resemble what every employer looks for in an employee; they are reliable, hard-working, smart, honest and all around team players. We couldn’t be happier,” said Miss Davis.
“We’ve had many of our staff members for so many years that the thought of adding new team members was daunting, but after we hired the first few, we realised there are so many good young people looking for work, they made it easy and they’ve not only fit in with existing employees, they’ve added fresh new ideas and fun.
“I think, and hope they do too, that we have a really fun dynamic amongst the group and all get along for the most part.”
The company is a “full service lighting source” and sells residential lighting and light bulbs, electrical supplies and has expanded its business in recent years by selling lamps, candles, and other home decor items.
Nikeyo Swan joined the company two years ago. He said: “Working here has taught me to stick with something even when it is challenging. I’ve met new people, learned a lot and look forward to any new challenges that may arise.”
Brittany Leamey has been with ESC for just over a month. She said: “I’m still learning new things every day, but everyone around here is quick to help each other out and lend a hand. I have enjoyed every minute so far; it is definitely a second family feeling.”
