Chance to win free fuel for life
A fuel firm is offering a fuel for life competition — a first for Bermuda.
The Rubis promotion is offering a lucky driver $375 a month in free gas for 25 years — more than $112,000 worth over the period.
Rubis sales manager Jermaine Simons said: “The reaction so far — once you get over most people’s disbelief — has been very positive.
“We were looking for something unique and different that would excite Bermuda.
“We figured this would stir things up a bit and give people something to achieve and feel special about.”
Mr Simons added: “It’s a normal routine activity — you buy groceries, fill up the car. This is an added incentive to fill up.”
He said that the average driver spends between $50 and $80 a week on fuel.
Mr Simons added: “For as low as $45, you can have your worries about having to pay for gas relieved.”
The prize draw is open to any driver every time they buy at least $45 worth of fuel, although bikes are excluded.
And Rubis rewards card holders get a bonus deal — an extra entry every time they buy the required amount of fuel.
In addition, the firm is offering weekly draws with three prizes of $300, $200 and $100 worth of fuel.
The competition follows a similar prize draw the Cayman Islands earlier this year, which proved a hit for the firm and with customers.
The prize draw, which started on June 16, runs to Monday, August 10.
