A $25 million project of improvements and renovations at Rosewood Bermuda was topped off in traditional Bermudian style with a roof-wetting ceremony.
Karim Alibhai, founder of Gencom, which owns the property, was joined by Paul Telford, Rosewood Bermuda’s managing director, and David Burt, the Premier, for the ceremony.
Gosling’s Black Seal Rum was poured onto a roof at the property on Tucker’s Point Road, Hamilton Parish, to celebrate the completion of the improvements and the grand reopening of the resort.
The property was closed from January to April to allow the renovations to be done. Each of the 92 guestrooms has been transformed into residential-style retreats. The Beach Club, Golf Clubhouse and Sense, A Rosewood Spa, were also “refreshed” during the improvement work.
The luxury property opened in 2009 as Tucker’s Point Hotel & Spa, and changed its name to Rosewood in 2011. It was bought by Miami-based investment company Gencom last year.
