Atelerie will be moving into its permanent location on Reid Street in February. It is currently operating out of a pop up location at the Washington Mall, on Church Street.

“We moved to a temporary space in the Washington Mall next to the Beluga Bar,” said Heather Macdonald, the owner.

“Because it is a larger space it has been a good test for some of the concepts and ideas that we are incorporating in our new space.

“For the past year and a half the Atelerie team has been working on design and updates to create a space that mirrors how we had grown over the last ten years,” she said.

“At last we will have a space that enhances the products and service that we supply. It has been an exciting, challenging and creative time for our team.”

She said many customers like the openness of the temporary location, but it has been very makeshift.

“Our new space will be just as spacious, but has been purpose designed to create a special and unique shopping experience. We can’t wait to open it and share it with the people of Bermuda.”

Atelerie was conceived on the notion of bringing unique, beautiful and interesting products to Bermuda.

“We have further expanded on that idea as our categories have grown over the last ten years. Our buying team’s focus is on high-quality and useful products with a strong emphasis on overall health,” Ms Macdonald said.

The store is known for its women’s clothing and jewellery, but has expanded to other categories, such as an apothecary, which is our essential collection of all-natural skincare and beauty lines.

“Many of our lines are plant-based, organic and free of chemicals. I’m very passionate about health and personally use all of our products. We continuously research and try out new products before buying them for the store,” Ms Macdonald said.

“As a team, we are keen to learn more about using products that help and enhance your life and health. For each of our skincare lines, our team takes training seminars to learn about the products.

“We were recently trained by well-known founder Rose-Marie Swift, from RMS Beauty, via a video call which was an amazing experience. Our apothecary now has 25 independent beauty lines which include well-known lines such as Tata Harper, RMS Beauty, Herbivore, Vintner’s Daughter and Dr Barbara Sturm.”

Atelerie also has a “dry-good pantry” which offers products ranging from organic, single-origin, fresh coffee, artisanal and organic chocolate products, organic teas and ceremonial grade matcha, a selection of small-production and biodynamic wines from Two Rock Wines, organic olive oils and special salts and seasonings. There are also health supplements, such as collagen and adaptogens.

The new space has been designed to showcase the lines, and the goal is to create “more than a shop, but a special gathering point where people can meet, discover and be inspired and have a truly enjoyable shopping experience”.

Ms Macdonald said: “We have worked hard to create every detail of this space and the custom fixtures being made for it. It has been our most challenging project to date and we have been working for over 1½ years on it.

“We cannot wait to share it with Bermuda when we reopen in our location at 9 Reid Street at the entrance to the Washington Mall in February.”
