Sargasso grows management team

Online shopping platform Sargasso, which started out as a food delivery service, has boosted its management team with three promotions and three new hires.

It is preparing to launch its “Sell On Sargasso” campaign, as part of its shift to supporting the sales efforts of local merchants and retailers.

Colin Rego, chief executive officer of Sargasso, said: “From inception, Sargasso has thrived with the assistance and direction of individuals dedicated to the vision of the company, and it is a pleasure to watch them progress professionally with Sargasso.”

The three promotions are Onea Mills to general manager, Ziara Campbell to lead operations manager, and Chyna Young to operations manager.

Ms Campbell said: “I chose to work with Sargasso because the collective team fosters a positive and creative space that allows for growth and opportunity and I look forward to my journey with this amazing team.”

The youngest of the promoted managers, Ms Young, said: “As a young person just entering the business world, this promotion has given me the confidence boost that I needed and I am excited and thankful for the opportunity.”

While Ms Mills has been with the company since its inception, starting as a delivery agent. She said: “I started with Sargasso as a hustle to help me get back on my feet. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected to come this far and I will continue to build with the Sargasso family.”

Mr Rego said: “Ms Mills, Campbell and Young have displayed the skills required to make critical decisions surrounding change and we are proud to introduce the newest members of our management team.”

The new hires are Tisheea O’Connor and Kylah Hunt as operation managers, and Melissa Looby as chief marketing and strategy officer.

The company said the management team, along with an additional 50 new agents onboarded since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic “are ready to serve and support both new customers and new merchants, just in time for the launch of the ‘Sell On Sargasso’ campaign. Known for its food delivery capabilities, Sargasso has now shifted focus to supporting the sales efforts of local merchants and retailers.”

Sargasso said interested retailers can prepare for a deeper education around the e-commerce tools it offers and increased support and services, targeted marketing, sales and delivery.
