A restaurant that has been a popular venue in the centre of Hamilton for 50 years has been put on sale.

The Spot, on Burnaby Street, was established in 1945 and has been owned by Thomas “Ted” Powell since 1971.

The eatery closed in mid-March because of restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, however in July, Mr Powell said he intended to reopen the restaurant. At the time he could not give a target date for the reopening and said there were several issues to deal with because of the small size of the premises.

On Friday, an advert was placed in The Royal Gazette announcing that the business was for sale. The selling price was not stated.

The Spot normally employs between 12 and 15 people during busy times. It has a loyal Bermudian customer base, and the business was established by entrepreneur Arthur Foote in 1945.

According to the advert, anyone interested in buying Spot Restaurant Ltd should e-mail to spot.restaurant@yahoo.com or call 292-0962 between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
