Chamber adds non-profit division

Jennifer Burland Adams

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce has added a non-profit category to its divisions of membership.

The newly-created division is co-chaired by Jennifer Burland Adams, the CEO of Wavecrest Ltd, and Danielle Riviere, consultant, OD Solutions.

The deputy chair is Deborah Titterton Narraway, chief marketing officer of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, while the secretary is Theresa Hall, executive director of Vision Bermuda.

Meeting monthly, via Zoom due to Covid-19 restrictions, the new division has 38 non-profit organisations and registered charities as members.

The Chamber said the division has sub-committees focused on issues related to the Lotteries Act, the financial burden of taxes and fees on registered charities, and better understanding the role of the Registrar General.

Ms Burland Adams said: “The non-profit sector in Bermuda is pleased to have worked with the Chamber of Commerce to provide a platform for Bermuda’s non-profit sector. Since forming in October 2020, we have come together to discuss issues and opportunities for improving the sector through government relations, collaboration and advocacy.

“The Chamber has been able to provide a new forum for many organisations in the community and I encourage any non-profit which wishes to learn more to contact the Chamber of Commerce.”
