Cybersecurity practice launched

Digicel Bermuda’s business solutions unit has launched a cybersecurity practice.

Kevin Beckett, head of business at Digicel Bermuda, said Digicel Business Protect is a new stand-alone unit that is a partnership between Digicel Business Solutions, Fortinet, HyperProtect, IBM, SentinelOne, MetaCompliance and Cisco.

Mr Beckett said: “We are pleased to offer our clients services which will initially include: breach & threat detection, SIEM and managed SOC, endpoint protection, penetration testing and managed firewall.”

The company said Digicel Business’ full suite of threat management, breach detection, penetration and endpoint management services provide business customers with everything they need to “stay safe and stay in the game”.

The company said Mr Beckett welcomed Douglas Thomas, cybersecurity director with Hyper Sync, to Digicel’s offices last week to host a two-day event that focused on ensuring every business had the tools it needed to cope with cyber attacks before it was too late.

Citing a report in Cybercrime Magazine, Digicel said cybercrime is predicted to inflict damages totalling $6 trillion globally in 2021, adding that if it were a country, it would be the world’s third-largest economy after the United States and China.
