Gosling’s offers a taste of Flora Duffy Gold rum
Most people will never win an Olympic gold medal like Flora Duffy, but if you are quick on your feet you may taste gold, thanks to Gosling’s Limited.
Its new Goslings Flora Duffy Gold “represents the sweet taste of victory after years of hard work”.
A limited run of Flora Duffy Gold has been released to celebrate Ms Duffy’s 2020 Olympic gold medal in the triathlon in Tokyo, Japan, in July. It was Bermuda’s first gold medal.
Gosling’s Limited will use the period up until Friday at 11.59pm to auction off the first 15 bottles, with all proceeds going to the Flora Fund, started by Ms Duffy in May 2018 to help other Bermudian athletes to pursue their dreams.
"The fund extends Flora’s positive influence beyond the triathlon course,“ the rum maker said.
Each bottle has been hand-dipped in black sealing wax, signed and numbered by Ms Duffy.
Exactly 15 bottles are being auctioned off because 15 was Ms Duffy’s lucky number in Tokyo.
On her way to the women’s briefing and pontoon draw, Kristian Blummenfelt, a Norwegian male triathlete, advised her to choose pontoon spot 15, because it was the shortest line, and he had chosen that number himself.
Ms Duffy took his advice and the next day they both won a gold medal.
The remaining bottles will be available for purchase for $59 on November 1 on the company website and in Gosling’s retail stores on Front Street and Dundonald Street, and from other select retailers.
The bottle label was designed by Bermudians Nhuri Bashir and Domico Watson of Burnt House Productions.
