CG Insurance has launched a corporate social responsibility programme to provide a framework for the organisation’s philanthropic activities while also providing staff opportunities to volunteer in the community.

Through newly created CG Community, the company said, it has identified four main pillars of focus — community welfare and economic development, health, education and environment and sustainability — from which CG’s giving decisions will emerge.

Naz Farrow, chief executive officer of CG, said: “Our aim in articulating CG Community objectives is to provide the clearest understanding of what CG aims to support to help achieve strong, healthy community life.”

The company said that philanthropy is an integral part of CG’s people-first approach to business.

It provides regular support to PALS, Clarien Bank Children’s Triathlon, Hamilton Rotary Club and the Bermuda Heart Foundation, and most recently launched the “Renew. Save. Donate.” initiative that provides clients who renew their policies online with a discount value they can either keep or donate to a local charity.

As the island battled the Covid-19 pandemic, the company said, CG has directed support to the Bermuda Emergency Fund, the vaccine clinic, and for the purchase of personal protection equipment for the island’s frontline health workers.

Most recently, it added, CG Insurance provided rapid lateral-flow test kits to group members and charitable organisations at no cost to help lessen the spread of Covid-19.

Ms Farrow said: “The impetus for this work stems from our view that CG is part of the communities we serve and that we should do what we can to support activities that help people live healthy, fulfilled lives.

“We believe our continued work through CG Community will positively impact in our communities through focused and intentional support.”
